Energise your life and Stay away from Depression
Depression can affect anyone. I have seen some clients in a very dark place and depression should be taken seriously.
While many people will experience bouts of depression following bereavement, loss of job, divorce or other stressful life experiences, some experience depression without an obvious cause, and can be excessive and prolonged. Clinical depression occurs in 10% of the population and some situations can make you more susceptible. Examples include teenagers around puberty, pregnant or nursing mothers, sometimes the elderly and many people who suffer from digestive disorders, migraines, and those with infectious, debilitating or terminal disease.
Manic depression seems to have been re named and can now be called bi-polar. Bipolar illness defines a set of symptoms whereby the individual alternates between periods of depression and mania.
It is very important to point out the facts when discussing depression because the sooner you recognize the symptoms and do something about it the quicker your recovery. The symptoms of clinical depression can be as follows;
• Low Mood
• Loss of interest in usual activities and pastimes
• Appetite/ Weight change
• Sleep disturbances
• Energy loss
• Agitation
• Decreased sex drive
• Inappropriate guilt
• Decreased Concentration
The medical and psychological factors in depression can be;
• Low Thyroid function
• Blood sugar imbalances
• Glandular disorders
• Vitamin/mineral deficiencies
• Lack of Sunlight
• Candida
• Celiac disease
• Anemia
• High Blood pressure
• Stroke
• Immune dysfunction
• Alcoholism
• Metal or other toxicity
• Over use of street drugs and medications
Important Notice -
Any illness prevention is better than a cure. If you know you have a tendency to suffer from depression of any description then looking after your physical and mental well-being is absolutely crucial to your everyday well being. Most people suffering from depression respond remarkably well to Nutritional Therapy, although it is common for sufferers to have other medical complaints and it is often these physiological imbalances that can lead to Nutritional deficiencies and imbalances, directly causing or contributing to the actual depression itself.In certain circumstances drug therapy is necessary, but there are many ways you can try to keep depression at bay and out of your life forever!
1. Exercise – It's VITAL to include this in your life everyday as well as deep breathing exercises. These activities will increase the oxygen available to the brain, enhancing cerebral function and the ability to handle stress.
2. Diet – This is essential, as you need to stabilize blood sugar levels. Avoid at all costs Sugar, white flour, processed foods, excess salt, tobacco, alcohol, caffeine and all other stimulants, as they will accelerate all symptoms. You should focus on raw living foods, vegetables, fruits and adequate protein (Found in green leafy vegetables and wheat grass.) Use whole grains and legumes and an abundance of super foods such as chlorella, Spirulina, Maca, Bee pollen, E3 Live and start juicing wheatgrass at home and having two shots a day!
3. Get plenty of essential oils in your diet (The good fats Omega 3, 6 and 9)
4. Make sure you get enough sleep. Adults that work night shifts can be more prone to depression because of the fluctuating hormone levels in their bodies. As adults we should be getting eight hours per night. Too much sleep can be as harmful as too little so be sensible.
As I always say the human body is remarkable and completely capable of healing itself, but don’t let your symptoms get out of control before you reach out for help!
