Garlic, Garlic and more garlic!!

Garlic has been used worldwide for centuries and it is reported that Roman and Greek physicians used it as a remedy for pneumonia, infections and snakebites!

Garlic is very easy to grow in the garden and is a wonderful, natural and inexpensive medicine that we should ingest daily. Garlic is an amazing anti fungal and antibacterial which means it is a powerful fighter when it comes to bacterial infections and the over growth of yeast, mold and parasites in the body. It sounds disgusting I know, but we all have a certain amount of these parasites growing inside us. For some people it can get out of control and leave you with a bloated tummy, tiredness, thrush, sticky bowels, headaches, migraines, nausea and many other unpleasant symptoms.

Sugar and yeast feeds these little out of control baddies. These foods should be avoided if you suspect you have overgrowth. However, simply adding garlic to your diet daily will have such a healing effect on you. If you give it in abundance to your partner and your children you can all smell the same! (Have it in the evening if you are worried about daytime odors.) Of course raw garlic is best which keeps the main therapeutic qualities 100% effective which are called Allicin. Garlic also promotes the well being of the heart, dramatically boosts the immune system and maintains a healthy blood circulation. Clean, pure blood is what we are trying to achieve. A person that eats a very processed diet, has a high fat consumption and eats lots of sugar (Even in the form of white carbs such as pasta and potatoes) will have the blood consistency of tomato ketchup. It will look sticky and thick and this is a prime candidate for cardiovascular disease and strokes, not to mention many other killer diseases.

I had to make a report this week regarding the statistics of the top 10 killer diseases in the UK. Even though I knew some of the information already, it’s still shocking to read, and actually bought a tear to my eye when I read how many children are developing cancer in the UK. We are an affluent country spending billions of pounds on research and pharmaceutical medicines, yet death rates are rising EVERY year. Yes, some people are living longer, but lots are not and what sort of quality of life do we have? Why are more and more young people in their 30’s – 40’s getting very sick?

Here are just a few (quite depressing) examples of the UK’s statistics;

• In 2010 156,723 deaths were recorded here in the UK from cancer. The number 1 killer being Lung Cancer and number 2 – Bowel cancer
• Childhood Cancer rates have risen by 40% since the late 1960's
• Heart Disease is on the increase – Someone dies from a heart attack every six minutes = 10 people die every hour
• Cardio vascular disease kills 200,000 people in UK every year at a cost of £15 billion pounds to the NHS per year.
• Diabetes has exploded in the UK out of all proportion. From 1997 – 2010 there is a 78% rise in new cases – The rates are increasing more here in the UK than in the USA.
• Out of 42,642 people newly diagnosed last year – 1,250 were type 1 insulin dependant and 41,000 were type 2 diagnosed – This is linked directly to lifestyle choices.

What this means is basically we are eating too much rubbish and our bodies simply cannot cope! We must go back to basics to stop this hideous treadmill of disease. Such simple things such as garlic can help to improve so much. Life doesn’t need to be so complicated and everything we need is available for us… In nature. Add Garlic to your diet today and see what improvements occur!
