Go Bananas!
This may not be quite what you are expecting, but Bananas actually have a hidden magic that you may not be fully aware of.
Firstly, they are a great source of potassium, which is essential for proper nerve transmission and normal bodily function! Not only do they prevent cramping they aid good muscle function, help the digestion because of the high fibre content and are a good natural source of sugar and energy!
Maybe you new that already, but did you know that if you have a wart or a verruca the skin of a banana can actually get rid of it!! If you have not heard of this before it is quite a revolution and to be honest I didn’t truly believe it either until one of my children got a verruca and I put the theory to the test. Warts and verrucas are obstinate, ugly and sometimes embarrassing and can even be painful conditions. The medical term is H.P.V or Human Papillomavirus and there are many commercial treatments for these types of viruses. Liquids such as salicylic acid are used to remove warts and can be pretty uncomfortable treatments.
Verrucas are actually just a type of wart on the sole of the foot and the weight of the body just squishes it into the foot giving it that flat fried egg appearance. In children verruca’s can come and go, but in adults they tend to hang around for longer. They can spread in warm, moist soggy environments and are known to increase in numbers on the foot to make a patch of mosaic warts. Quite delightful! So, when I discovered something gentle, low cost, effective, no side effects and no pain that could easily remove my child’s verruca, I was very excited. Not only did my child get to eat the banana, we then had great fun chopping the skin into large enough chunks to cover the effected area.
Here’s how it works;
1. Banana peel works due to the potassium content, which dissolves the hardened, affected area of skin.
2. Before applying the Banana skin its important to clean the area of skin thoroughly.
3. Cut the peel and attach it to the skin with Band-Aid to keep it securely in place.
4. Do it at night so you can let the banana work its magic while you sleep and remove all proof in the morning to continue your day!
5. This works on both warts and verrucas brilliantly and can be used on hands and feet!
6. The skin gradually becomes softer but you MUST apply this to the skin regularly every night for anywhere between 5 nights and 3 weeks. In our case it took 6 days and the verruca had completely vanished as if by magic!! I honestly could not believe my eyes. It left a hole in the foot where the verruca had been and it was almost like it had just dropped out. The hole vanished after a couple of days and the foot returned to a normal verruca free zone!
So my advice, if you or your child has verruca’s or warts stock up on the bananas! It’s much better for the hips than chocolate anyway!!
